While BDRC gives 1613 – 1678, Treasury of Lives by Ngawang Sherpa updates these with sources in July 2026:" The commonly given date of 1613 is not supported by his autobiography. This account is based on Karma Chakme's outer autobiography, titled ''Rigs rus dang 'brel zhing sangs rgyas kyi bstan pa'i 'jug sgo dang mthun pa phyi yi rnam thar'' (cited under ''Gnas mdo karma chags med'' 2012), in which he details his activities from birth to age fifty-two. The remainder of the biography is based on ''Rgyal ba gnas mdo pa'i bla brgyud dang dam pa'i chos kyi byung ba mdor bsdus dwangs shel me long'' (cited under Unknown. 2010. ''Rgyal ba gnas mdo pa'i bla brgyud dang dam pa'i chos kyi byung ba mdor bsdus dwangs shel me long''. Gnas mdo gsang sngags chos' phel gling. BDRC MW1KG8537.) unless otherwise noted." "Nedo Karma Chakme (gnas mdo karma chags med) was born in 1609, the earth female bird year of the tenth sexagenary cycle, in the Nyomtod (nyoms stod) region of Kham, northwest of Chamdo. " "He passed away in November 1678, on the first day of the tenth month of the earth male horse year."  +

The dates for Nāropa here are from BDRC, https://www.tbrc.org/#!rid=P3085. However, other sources suggest earlier dates, with a date of birth of 956(?) and a date of death of 1040. Regarding the date of birth, see Newman, John. "The Epoch of the Kālacakra Tantra." Indo-Iranian Journal 41 (1998): 319-349.: 347, note 10.[1]. Regarding the date of death, see Wylie, T. "Dating the Death of Naropa." L. Hercus et al., eds. Indological and Buddhist Studies. Volume in Honour of Professor J.W. de Jong on his Sixtieth Birthday. Canberra, 1982.  +
